Gyeongbokgung Palace is crowded with people on New Year's Day. This year, some of the graffiti is covered by the terrorist attack. Even if it is not this large, it is serious about scribbling, damage, and cultural assets as a whole.

The stone walls near the Naeso kitchen, which served as Gyeongbokgung Palace's kitchen, have been reduced to a visitor's register. The situation is worse on the fortress road in Seoul, which was built since the reign of King Taejo. It is a fortress road built in the early Joseon Dynasty. Blue spray graffiti can be seen through the stones where you can feel the traces of time. It is a stone structure that was built over 600 years ago, and it has to be cut for restoration.

Before restoring cultural properties, the ingredients of the materials used hundreds of years ago are analyzed, and the restoration method is determined according to the expected reaction. Small particles such as sand grains are sprayed under high pressure or irradiated with a laser to vaporize contaminants, which is a delicate task, but damage is inevitable.

Restoring 1m of the castle takes up to a week.

In 2022, 20 billion won was spent on renovation work such as the Four Grand Palaces and Jongmyo Shrine in Seoul.
